“SMOKE/BROKE” GLASS TO DESIGN “ON TOP OF THE RUINS” OF SOMETHING BROKEN
In 2019 OLDER purchased 6 out-of-production vintage “SMOKE GLASS” by Joe Colombo from 1963. They were found in the home of a retired journalist in Florence who collects design. The first night the glasses came into use, a warm summer night in Tuscany with a lot of wine, one glass fell and broke into pieces. The pain of breaking something historical became an inspiration to design “ON TOP OF THE RUINS” of something broken. In this way creating an open-ended way of designing. This is a sketch for an idea, which we wish to fileshare.
