During Salone del Mobile 2024, OLDER created a uniform identity for the third edition of Caffè Populaire by DWA Design Studio in collaboration with Lambert & Fils. The blackbirds, which is the identity of this event, populate the DWA garden where the installation, series of events and talks take place. The uniforms carry this motif, translated into an embroidery and placed on a detachable pocket, front & back on the garments.

Bespoke wedding dress

2022
A wedding dress informed by the design language of parachutes.

When we got commissioned by Sofia Pia Belenky to create her wedding dress, we had some initial meetings to establish a dialogue regarding which direction this project should go. We immediately went looking for an idea and concept that could tie all our leads and references together.

For a long time we have been in love with the parachute. The core simplicity of such a device, which function is to slow the motion of an object through the atmosphere by creating drag. The parachute became our reference point.

It is an object that is both simple and complex in the same time. In many ways completely similar to the uniform.

Our design team carefully studied the construction of a parachute sourced from the Italian aeronautic military, how the open and closing mechanisms functioned in order to transfer those crucial utilitarian details and let them become the outline for the entire design of the dress. In many ways the concept was carried by a reducing approach, where all visual noise got muted and the utility details from the parachute became the design protagonist .

From the first fitting on Sofia Pia Belenky we noticed how the dress began to integrate harmoniously with her body and personality, and in many ways became a dress & object that radiated from her instead of being worn.

May this 1 out of 1 parachute dress land her owner safe.

FJORDENHUS - A bespoke uniform identity for Morten Kirk & Olafur Eliasson

2020
A uniform Identity for Lyst - An apron with a signature rope detail inside and a cape for the outside staff.

Rising out of the water, Fjordenhus (Fjord house) forges a striking connection between Vejle Fjord and the city centre of Vejle. The building honours its unique setting in a radical way. It is placed directly in the water, aiming to create the most immediate relation between a building and its envi- ronment. The basic form is inspired by the harbour’s surrounding architecture. Formed by four intersecting cylinders, rounded volumes have been carved from its facades of cus- tom-glazed brick to create an archi- tectural statement of complex curved, circular, and elliptical forms, torqueing walls, and parabolic arches. The outer walls, which are normally seen as a mem- brane between inside and outside, are themselves spaces in Fjordenhus, and so there is the opportunity to be both inside and outside. This feature was a natural fit for the Lyst concept — an indoor restaurant inspired by its outdoor beginnings.

THE SHARD - A HIGH-RISE BESPOKE UNIFORM PROJECT, FOR AB ROGERS & RENZO PIANO’s THE SHARD

2019
This iconic building which stands as the Europea Union’s tallest building with its 95 floors and 306, 6 metres is not only an iconic landmark within architecture but also stands as a symbol of the skyline of London.

The starting point came from the actual blueprints of this spire-like sculpture by Renzo Piano and adapted key design features and silhouette outlines into phys- ical pattern pieces for each uniform. The idea was to strengthen and sharpen up the profile while leaving key details that would give the uniform identity an instant recognisability. We wanted the building to have a presence in the identity of the staff but in the most refined and subtle way possible. We used only blue tones from the top to the bottom of the uniform, including each topstitch, as a nod to the original blueprint of the building. There was a lot of new ground tested creatively and technically; for instance, we specially designed a range of jackets for the outdoor security staff at the entrances of the building and on the rooftop terrace. These jackets were developed to keep you warm within industrial freezers - we tested them out and they work ;) All materials are sourced from our range of Italian, sustainable suppliers in order to ensure that the uniforms are certified as organically and responsibly produced within Europe. The design was devel- oped in close collaboration with the iconic Ab Rogers Design and was developed and sampled but never produced

PALAIS DE TOKYO - UNIFORM IDENTITY FOR LES GRANDS VERRES AT PALAIS DE TOKYO WITH LINA GHOTMEH

2017
A bespoke set of napkins and bread basket accompany the uniform identity of LGV at Palais de Tokyo.

Uniform identity and tablewear design for Les Grands Verres at Palais De Tokyo. These designs were created to accompany the architectural designs by Lina Ghotmeh. We designed and produced the “TOKYO” napkin site specifically for this project - a fabric origami object made out uniform waste material from our European production. These fabric sculptures were placed on each table at Palais De Tokyo as a statement of organic design and a zero waste production, creat- ing a full circle between the architectural intention of the space and how to transform these ideas into cloth and make them move.
