Zhora, 2019

The minimal stainless steel frame of the ZHORA chair traces the outline of a figure on the run. Stretching the limits of steel bending in industrial production, the frame employs tight curvatures in balanced material tension. The intention was to encourage the material to assume shapes that it did not know were possible.

The chair’s structural balance can be adjusted by pulling the free-floating strings that keep the seat and back in tension. The transparent inflated upholstery, floating around the frame, references the layered nudity of the replicant ZHORA from the sci-fi-noir Blade Runner.
