Baguette, 2019

The creation of The Baguette began with a meditation on an iconic shape, originally inspired by a couch, with soft curves intersecting at pointy corners. Its clean lines are an homage to the ‘60s Danish modernists. Along the design process, the volume acquired a pedestal base, freeing it from the ground on which it stands. The work was further developed in Pietrasanta by Francesco Basini Gazzi and finally produced in clean, crisp white marble. The Baguette functions as a bread basket, reinforcing the connection between OLDER and the dining situation. This association was further expanded in a second iteration of The Baguette, this time made in fabric from OLDER’s uniform line and added to their collection.
