OLDER Studio AS SEEN BY Shota Kono, 2025

A visual conversation between Milan and Tokyo

During a recent visit to Japan, OLDER Studio founders Letizia Caramia and Morten Thuesen met Tokyo-based photographer Shota Kono, whose work left a profound impression on them, thanks to the cinematic quality of his photography—its ability to build worlds through subtle details, atmosphere, architectural sensitivity and a documentary-like realism.

This intuitive sensibility felt deeply aligned with OLDER’s approach to the uniform industry. Upon returning to Milano, the OLDER team created a concept deck, and crafted a series of uniform looks, which were then sent to Tokyo, where Kono assembled a cast choosing people living in the Japanese capital, who echoed the spirit of OLDER Studio.

We are proud to present this collaborative project—not only as a photographic exploration of the portrayal of uniforms, but as a portrait of Tokyo itself. An experiment born within a long-distance creative exchange, a project shaped in sync across cultures and time zones.
